With Facebook’s current algorithm, it’s almost impossible to reach all of your followers every time you post an update on the social media platform. However, if you have budget to put behind your Facebook updates to boost them, you can have great success in reaching both current and new followers, and generating leads and brand awareness. If you’ve never boosted a Facebook post before, it’s super simple and you can do it in a matter of minutes and it will automatically keep on ticking until it’s reached the duration and budget specified.
Boosting a post on Facebook is important for many brands, especially if your aim is to increase engagement and brand awareness among Gen X and Baby Boomers, as they’re most active on Facebook than any other social platform. If you’re targeting outside of those demographics, customise the audience fields and target your primary customer for best results.
Don’t know where to start? Follow these 5 simple steps to boosting a Facebook post:
Step 1: What post are you going to boost and why? You need to choose a post that already has potential if you want to get the most out of your paid boost. Our advice? Only boost a Facebook post that is highly relevant, received some organic reach and is something that you would click on yourself. Once you’ve decided, make sure there are no spelling errors in the caption and update the photo if it’s not engaging. Now you’re ready to boost your post, so go ahead and hit the Boost button.
Step 2: A new pop-up screen will appear giving you a range of options and filters for your paid Facebook boost. Under the audience heading, you have three options to filter who your post will be boosted to: people who have already liked your page, people who like your page and their friends or people you choose through targeting. When you hit the third option to customise who your post will be boosted to, click edit audience and a new pop-out window will open with customization fields including age, gender, location and interests. Fill in the fields, click save and scroll down to set your budget and duration.
Step 3: Select your desired budget from the drop down menu. The default is $7, but you can change it to anything you like based on the estimated people reach figure. Then select the duration of the campaign to 1 day, 7 days, 14 days or a customized end date. Confirm your currency and click Boost in the bottom left corner.
Step 4: A new pop-up screen will appear prompting you to enter your credit card details or log into your Paypal account. Enter in all of the required fields and select continue at the bottom of the window to process payment and finalise your Facebook boost.
Step 5: Your post on Facebook has now been boosted! Sit back, relax and watch the reach of the post grow.
